Overdue Update

Hey Guys,

So it has been a long time since we last blogged and things have been bsuy. After leaving Kalaru and Bega behind we headed to Canberra so that I could get some work but we were unable to find any where to stay so we ended up at the yass caravan park which is an hour from Canberra. I gained some work with ABC working in Canberra and we spent a couple of weeks staying at Yass, I was working for ABC and Lee picked up a couple of weeks work at the Canberra Mushroom Factory picking mushrooms. Then about a week ago we decided to pack up in Yass and headed into Canberra so we are currently staying at Exhibition Park which has lots going on including Farmers Markets, Book Fairs and Car Fairs. We have 3 more weeks here before I finish up at work and we will head off. I am not sure where we will be heading to next.

So to fill you all in on the back story we had a few dramas happen with regards to our living arrangements. When we arrived in Bega we set up our tent and that night Bega saw its worst winds in 10 years which pretty much destroyed our tent which lead to our week in Kalaru once we reached Yass we started out in a cabin but after a week we purchased a small tent which we spent some time living in with the 3 of us. Once we reached Canberra we have purchased another tent for $5 which is a tee pee tent. We are staying in these for another couple of days as we have ordered a Camper trailer to attach to our trailer.

Okay guys I will post some photos as well so check them out.

Update.

Hey Guys,

So it has been a little time since I last blogged this is because we have been busy and also we are in an area where the internet does not get good coverage.

Currently we are staying at the Countryside Caravan Park in Kalaru which is about 10mins east of Bega. If you ever come down this way definately stay here the park is awesome and the people are very friendly. There is a jumping pillow which we have tested and they also have a small animal park which has an Alpaca (but if you ask Lee he will swear it is a Llama) 2 goats, a deer many Chickens and a peacock. We have hand fed the Alpaca and the Goats with grass which was fun.

We went to the Bega Cheese Factory but sadly we are not able to tour the factory as they dont do that anymore. We tried to visit a couple of wineries but they were closed. We went for a drive to Merimbula, Pambula and Eden yesterday which was fun we also visted Magic Mountain but did not ride any of the rides as it was too expensive. We then jumped in the car and headed to Bermagui as they were having a seaside fair but we missed most of the action as we arrived too late.

While we were in Pambula we visited a little place which had a couple of shops but also had an animal nusery which was lots of fun we patted camels and Lee and I held a baby goat.

We have spent most of our time sleeping in and hanging out at the park here and fishing at Tathra which has not been very successful apart from a few little nibbles.
Our next stop is Canberra where we will stay for a bit for some work to refill the kitty.

Talk Soon Peoples! Hopefully once we hit Canberra I can put some pictures up on here for you all.

Enjoy!
Love from Us.

First Week

Hey guys,

so it is sunday and we have been on our little adventure for a full week now. The road is a bit of a bumpy one LOL but we are getting there. Last night it rained for the first time and we unfortunately were out and had left our windows open on the tent hence we came back to a wet bed and a bit of flooding. Thankfully a kind person in the park closed them before too much damage was done. We have had fun but things keep going wrong for us our beds are uncomfortable and there is dirt everywhere. We are disorganised and now we are wet but we are not giving up! We are hoping to pack up today and head for Bemboka or Bega. Mum has found a place in Bemboka which charges $10 a night to camp at, we are not sure if it is still there because the review was done in 2005 but if it is no longer there we will head back to Bega and find a spot there to camp out. If the rain continues we may stay in Batemans Bay for a couple of days till we dry out!

Missing you all and Love you all

Love Nicole, Carol, Lee and Lilly. xoxoxo

Old Mogo Town

On Thursday the 25th of February we decided to step back in time and headed to Old Mogo Town for some gold panning. This is a little theme park set up in Mogo which resembles what it was like during the gold rush era in Aus. It was really interesting seeing how they used to live and how they found the gold through mining and panning. After a tour we than started to pan for our own gold. This took us 30 mins and we are pretty sure we only found fools gold. Its tough work panning.

On the Road

So here it is the first blog from the road...
So things have not gone according to plan and we seem to keep having small problems. On the sat we got up and the plan was to be on the road bright and early I don't think 2:30pm was bright and early. By the time we finished up at the house and got going. We decided that for the first night we would be best to stay in a cabin so we hit Bateman's Bay at about 9:30pm and were all pretty exhausted so hit the sack early. Day 2 dawned bright and early thanks to mum and we were into setting up the tent. I think the weather had other ideas because by 12:30pm it was sooooo hot we could not do anymore work so it was time to stop and hit the shops before we then relaxed and cooled off in the pool. Day 3 and we tried again to get the camp organised so after some shuffling and grumbles by lunch we were done and thankfully it was not as hot as the day before so we headed out to see some of the town... this included the local club. So today Day 4 we finally got to sleep in and Lee and I arose at 10:00am while mum as usual was up early. Today we headed for Mogo went to Mogo Zoo which we all enjoyed and then had lunch and wandered the town. So now as I write we are relaxing in our little home it is nearly time to prepare dinner and apart from little things going wrong (mum's chair breaking, our beds collapsing and the bloody flys) we are all starting to get pretty relaxed.

Introductions

So there are 6 members of our team. Me of course, my mum Carol, My partner Lee, our dog Lilly, Our car Al and the newest member of the team Thomas the Tank Trailer. So please allow me to introduce everyone in detail:

So to begin with lets start with the humans.
My name is Nicole and I am 30 years old. I am the organised, neurotic, stresshead at the moment. But hopefully the stresshead part will disappear once we hit the road. The neurotic and organised part well who knows LOL.

My mum Carol was the instigator of the trip. It was her that started all this with saying “well if Nicole could quit her job we could travel around Australia” to which I jokingly responded with “I can quit my job, I can use my inheritance to pay the bills” LOL one thing led to another and now here we are 10 months later setting out. Being almost 60 I think mums senility has been questioned a couple times since.

My partner Lee. Lee is the newest human member of the team. He is about to turn 31 but if you ask him he will tell you he is 29 LOL. He is a huge Ford Fan (NOT!!) Lee was the one who helped me make the final decision when one afternoon sitting in the car he said to me “I think we need to go on this trip” by the time that night was over we had both written our resignations and were starting to plan.

Then comes Lilly. She is a 10 week old mini foxy cross Jack Russell. She was brought just before we decided to go away and so now she gets to see the country along with us. The cool thing about our little Lilly is that she was born on the same day as mine and Lee's first date. She is an active puppy and loves play fighting with us.

Then there is Al. He is a 2001 Kia Sportage and he is maroon in colour. We bought him back in 2009. He is a 4wd and is not a bad car who will hopefully hold up to all the work he is required to do on this trip.

Lastly comes Thomas. He is the very newest member of the team only brought last week and so far has lived up to the task of carting things about the place.

So there you have them the 6 members of our team as we travel and blog more I am sure you will get to know us all much much better.
